Jungle Island

The Charles Deering Estate consists of a three floor wooden house and a three floor stone mansion on a 440 acres property in Miami, Florida. It was the home of Charles Deering, brother of millionaire industrialist James Deering. Charles used the property regularly between the late 1916 and 1927. The prperty was ravaged by Hurricane Andrew in 1992, but has been restored and reopened to the public in the year 2000.

The grounds have what is thought to be the largest virgin coastal tropical hardwood hammock in the contiguous U.S.
